Maybe you ask or pay others to create graphic work for you. I have used several sites to create my own but never Canva. That is why I’m going to learn with you.

Why did I choose Canva? First, it’s free! The one thing I’ve learned over the years since I’ve been writing is that I cannot afford all the things that might be necessary for what I do.

Templates are so much easier to use, and Canva has more than 250,000. I have created business cards that worked well for me. Find the one that fits you, upload what you want to add, and just type in the information. You can make all the changes you want in font, size, etc. I ordered them from Canva, and they were shipped to my home. Hurray. I didn’t have to leave my office, which by the way is my home.

I recently attended an event and asked if I could give away some of my books. I decided to make a bookmarker, which was a first for me. I again found templates, uploaded items I required to add on, and sent them off to be printed locally. It was amazing at how quickly something can be done.

Fun time! If you use Zoom, you may already be using virtual backgrounds. If not, go to settings and under the Meeting tab, scroll down to “In Meeting Advanced.” You can enable “virtual background” at this point.

If you use Canva, you can download virtual backgrounds to use on Zoom. First, sign into your Canva account and type “Zoom Virtual Backgrounds” in the search bar. Let the fun begin. Pick one and edit the wording on it. If you prefer to start with a blank canvas, you can do that as well. Ready, set, download. Yes, it is simple, and you are almost there.

Open your Zoom account and click on the up arrow by Start Video. You will see some basic backgrounds that are provided, and one has the word “blur.” If you click on this one, you can blur your background if someone or something is behind you. Or you can click the plus button on the right and click on “add image.” Next, find the image you downloaded from Canva, and there you are. You can have backgrounds for many different Zoom events.

Most importantly, just have fun!
